NEUROMODULATOR INJECTIONS

WHAT IS A BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTION?

Botulinum toxin, also known as a neuromodulator, is a molecule (toxin) produced by a bacterium (Clostridium botulinum) that causes temporary relaxation of a muscle.

When injected in small quantities, botulinum toxin has a localized effect on the targeted muscle and is considered safe.

FOR WHICH CONDITIONS ARE BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS HELPFUL?

Botulinum toxin injections are ideal for treating expression lines, such as those found around the eyes (crow’s feet), between the eyebrows (frown lines), and on the forehead.

Neuromodulator injections are also used to treat excessive sweating and certain types of headaches.

Botulinum toxin is also used for various health conditions such as essential tremors, strabismus, digestive disorders (achalasia), tics, etc.

WHAT DO BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS CONSIST OF?

It is a very quick procedure, practically painless, with no recovery time required.

Botulinum toxin is injected into the targeted muscle in very small quantities using a tiny needle.

ARE THE RESULTS OF BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS PERMANENT?

The effects of botulinum toxin injections generally begin to appear within 48 to 72 hours. In most cases, the effects last an average of 6 months.

There may be significant variations depending on the treated area and the strength of the injected muscle.

It is generally recognized that if the treatment is performed regularly and consistently, the muscle gradually weakens and the duration of the treatment effects may increase over time.
